DJS Associates, Inc., a full-service forensic consulting, technology and animations firm, announces its 50th anniversary in business.  The Firm was established in the early 1960s.  The Forensic aspect of the firm was established by happenstance when David J. Schorr, a Professor of Civil Engineering at Villanova University, was asked by an attorney to apply his knowledge to recreate the facts surrounding an automobile accident and become the attorney’s expert.  From this single event, Schorr saw the business potential in applying civil engineering principles including the laws of physics in a unique manner and became a pioneer in the field of forensic engineering.  Town Engineers founded by Schorr in 1961, was restructured as Forensic Engineering Services and later renamed DJS Associates, Inc.

Schorr’s son, Steven M. Schorr, PE, joined the firm in 1982.  Under Steven Schorr’s leadership, DJS Associates, Inc. expanded its areas of expertise from accident reconstruction to a broad range of sciences and engineering.  He also invested in state-of-the-art technology, such as: High-Definition Survey (HDS) laser scanners for precise 3-D investigations, documentation and case presentations; as well as infrastructure including the Forensic Storage and Technology Center based in Southampton, Pennsylvania.

In 2013, the Firm will move into its third generation when Justin P.
