Introducing Dustyn P. Roberts, P.E., Ph.D.
Dustyn P. Roberts, P.E., Ph.D. is a Practice Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Outside of teaching courses like “Intro to Mechanical Design,” or “Bicycles: The Mechanical Advantage,” Dr. Roberts is available to consult and opine on matters requiring expertise in biomechanics, mechanical engineering, and robotics. More specifically, she can provide case review, analysis, and written reports in relation to product design, collisions, prosthetics, sports medicine, and more.
Dr. Roberts received her B.S. in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, her M.S. in Biomechanics & Movement Science from the University of Delaware, and her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from New York University. She is a registered and licensed Professional Engineer in New York and Pennsylvania.
Dr. Roberts’ passions for engineering education, sustainability, and bridging the gap between research and real-world impact through entrepreneurial thinking have translated into innovative work that has been supported by organizations including The National Science Foundation (NSF), VentureWell, The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), and The Lemelson Foundation. In addition, Dr. Roberts is the author of Making Things Move: DIY Mechanisms for Inventors, Hobbyists, and Artists, published by McGraw-Hill/Tab Electronics in 2010. She rides her cargo bike to work most days, usually with one or more kids safely on the back.
