Dr. Marc Cohen, Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Medicine Expert with DJS Associates, will present the complimentary PACLE-accredited webinar “The ABCs of Medical Examinations” on February 8th. Tailored to help legal and insurance professionals better understand complex medical evaluation processes in relation to personal injury and work-related claims, this presentation provides a comprehensive overview of a patient’s medical journey, beginning with the review of an individual’s medical history and the events leading to their chief complaint(s). Attendees will gain insights from a practitioner’s perspective on initial vital sign assessments and pertinent diagnostic imaging studies, including MRI, CT scans, and EMG results. The session will then delve into detailed explanations of orthopedic and physical examinations, as well as neurologic evaluations.
Building upon these foundational concepts, Dr. Cohen introduces the incorporation of Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) to identify a patient’s physical limitations or restrictions, determine their ability to return to employment, and define the extent of permanent injuries. Real-case scenarios will illustrate the multifaceted considerations of medical examinations and how findings are applied within a forensic context.
